LAAN is a dynamic community that unites individuals who have been impacted by LEAP Africa’s curriculum and programmes in various ways for a common purpose. That common purpose is to build an ecosystem of people who continue to collaborate to create sustainable change in their communities while building mutually beneficial relations through networking.

They are young professionals, business entrepreneurs, social innovators, young adults and teachers who have been a part of LEAP Africa’s programmes, training or curriculum delivery and are committed to living impactful lives.

Dr. Amina Ayodeji-Ogundiran

President

Amina Ayodeji-Ogundiran is Nigerian born and raised. She holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in English Language from Bayero University, Kano, Nigeria, a Master of Arts in Human Resource Development from Bowie State University, Maryland, USA, and a doctorate in Organizational Leadership (With Academic Distinction) from The Chicago School of Professional Psychology, Washington DC, in July, 2022

Her career began as a Youth Corp member in Bereau of Public Enterprises,where she actively supported the communications department and performed tasks such as daily media tracking and press releases. Her first teaching experience was at the elementary and middle school levels where she taught English Language, Phonetics and Literature in Bristol Kiddies Academy, Karu Abuja. In October 2008, Amina began her career in higher education as an admistrative officer supporting the Examinations and Records Department in University of Port Harcourt Nigeria. During her time at the University of Portharcourt, she served on several University Committees such as Degree Results Verification, Ethics, and Senate Verification Committees. She also supported Critical university bodies such as the University Senate and Council.

Following her marriage to Mr. Ogundiran in 2012, she relocated to the United States and began studying as a graduate student at Bowie State University in August 2015. During her student years, she established the International Student Association, served as the student representative on both wellness and dining committees, she was also the student representative on the university graduate council. In January 2017, her work on the healthy campus challenge was recognized and awarded by the Obama Administration. Through her leadership, Bowie State was recognized as a Healthy Campus by First Lady Michelle Obama. After graduation in December 2017, she worked briefly as a grant assistant with the office of Research and Sponsored Programs at Bowie State before proceeding for her doctoral studies in January 2019. She returned to Bowie State in 2021 to further support the office of Research and Sponsored Programs. Amina gained thorough knowledge and experience in grants management both on pre and post award sides. Additionally she is a Co-Principal Investigator for a $638,000 grant awarded by US Department of Education to establish a Data Analytics Center at Bowie State University.

Amina is passionate about writing, researching, and humanitarian work (specifically student advocacy). Her scholarly works in leadership and followership studies are published in the International Journal of Leadership, Education, and Business Studies, as well as the International Journal of Smart Education and Urban Society (IJSEUS) and other reputable journals. Furthermore, her chapbooks ‘For My Wanderman’ and ‘God Made us Niger-Areans’ were published by Poets in Nigeria in 2019 and 2020 respectively. She also wrote a short book titled ‘One Thousand Words for Humanity’, which was self-published on Amazon and Amazon Kindle. Her poem ‘Our World’ was published in the Cathexis Northwest Press as well as her short story ‘Da Ke’ which was published in an anthology by Solano Publications. As part of her humanitarian efforts, in May 2023, Amina was elected President of the LEAP Africa Alumni Network where she invests time and efforts to drive community building projects across Africa.

Amina continuously envisions a safe world that offers every human equal opportunity to achieve maximum success. With that said, anticipate more of her works both in theory and practice.

Maimuna Suleiman

Director of Public Relations

Maimuna Suleiman holds a bachelor’s degree in Pharmacy from Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria. Renowned for her leadership both during her university days and beyond, she currently serves as the Public Relations Officer for the Leap Africa Alumni Network.

In her professional life, Maimuna works as a hospital pharmacist and has significant experience in developmental work. She has led numerous community development initiatives focused on providing quality education to underprivileged children and contributing to the health sector’s improvement. Notably, she won the Peace Under 25 sub-grant for her outstanding YDOS project and has received several commendation letters from NYSC for her community projects.

Maimuna is presently engaged in a virtual internship with the West African Institute of Public Health and serves as the pioneer Lead Facilitator with Jobberman in Bauchi State.

Toyosi Adebakin

Director of Account and Finance

Oluwatoyosi Adebakin has over ten (10) years of professional experience in Audit & Assurance, Accounting and Financial Reporting in various sectors such as; Financial Services & Insurance, Government & Public services, Telecommunications, Construction, and Manufacturing industry.

She has served both private and public companies including single and group structured entities in Nigeria and Canada. In this journey, she has participated at different levels/designations that provided her with the required skill set for a wide range of audit and accounting services.

Toyosi has an MSc in Professional Accountancy from the University of London (UoL), she is also a member of the Association of Chartered Certified (ACCA) and The Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN). She works as a Manager in Deloitte Canada and is currently a student member of Chartered Professional Accountants (CPA) Canada.
